Application Requirements

The Application for Admission for Fall 2017 is currently available at im.aua.am. To ensure your application for admission is complete, make sure that you meet the following requirements keeping in mind that some programs have additional supplements. Please check the website of your preferred field of study as well as the Graduate Admissions Policy for more information. You may also refer to our Admissions Calendar for a list of deadline dates. Application requirements are as follows:

1. Application for Admission to Graduate Study

Submit a complete application including all required supplements as outlined in the application instructions. Applicants may indicate up to two programs of study in their application. MBA and MSSM program applicants must submit an additional supplemental application form. 

2. English Language Proficiency

Present valid and official results confirming English Language Proficiency typically through the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic. Native and near native speakers are eligible for a waiver. For more information, please read the English Language proficiency waiver policy and application form here.

  • You must submit official score reports confirming English language proficiency either from the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic exams. For AUA application purposes, these scores are valid only if your test date was less than two years before the application submission date. You must ensure that official test scores are sent to AUA directly from the testing service, using AUA’s institution codes as noted below:
    • TOEFL iBT – code 4151
    • IELTS Academic – 40 BAGHRAMYAN AVE, Yerevan

Target score requirements for admission are as follows:

  • TOEFL iBT – 79 or higher
  • IELTS Academic – 6.5 or higher

Applicants with scores below the targets may be considered for conditional admission. However, applicants with a 67 or lower on the TOEFL iBT or 5.5 or lower on the IELTS Academic will be automatically denied admission. Please refer to the Graduate Admissions Policy for more information.

 

3. Graduate School Admissions Exams

Present official Graduate School Admissions Exam results typically from the GRE, GMAT, or LSAT depending on your selected field of study as outlined below to demonstrate to the Graduate Admissions Committee your ability to succeed in your selected graduate program. No Graduate School Admission Exam is required of TEFL applicants.

You are required to pay for your examination fees and arrange for your official GRE, GMAT, or LSAT scores to be sent to AUA on or by the application deadline date. It is ultimately your responsibility to ensure timely payment of the necessary exam fees, proper registration for the exams, and timely receipt of the official scores. Please keep in mind that it may take up to four weeks after the exam date for AUA to receive your official scores. For admissions purposes, test scores for the GRE, GMAT, or LSAT exams taken within the past five years of the application deadline will be considered for admission.

9. Proof of an undergraduate degree

You must hold an undergraduate degree from, or currently be enrolled in your final year of studies at, a 4-year or 5-year from an accredited or licensed institution of higher education. Applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree from a 3-year program will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Some programs may require undergraduate degrees or specific courses to be taken during your undergraduate education. Those programs and their requirements are listed below.

MSE Preference is given to applicants with undergraduate degrees in Economics, Finance, Public Administration, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative fields.
CIS Undergraduate degrees should be in one of the following fields: mathematics, science or engineering field. Students with degrees in non-science disciplines may be admitted, depending on their completed course work and experience.  The undergraduate degree must include, as a minimum, two years of college-level mathematics covering calculus, linear algebra and differential equations, and a course in physical sciences (physics, mechanics, chemistry, biology, etc).
IESM Hold an undergraduate degree in fields including mathematics, science and engineering. Students with degrees in non-science disciplines may be admitted, depending on their completed course work. The undergraduate degree must include, as a minimum, two years of college-level mathematics covering calculus, linear algebra and differential equations, and a course in physical sciences (physics, mechanics, chemistry, biology, etc).
MPH Hold a bachelor’s degree in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine or nursing or hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural or social sciences or related fields and preferably have two years of practical work experience in the health sector.
LL.M. Have basic understanding of the legal profession and the opportunities and challenges in the field of law. Preference will be given to those applicants who have previously studied law (including previous degrees, summer schools, trainings, internships), held legal internships, or have legal experience.

 

10. Relevant work experience

Work experience may be required for some programs while preferred for others. See the table below for more information.

Applicants must provide documentation of these years of full-time work experience. If the requirement is not satisfied by the time of application, applicants may be conditionally admitted and full admission offered if the requirement of 2 years of full-time work experience is completed by September 1, 2017.
MSSM Strongly encouraged, but not required

MPH Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural or social sciences or related fields should preferably have two years of practical work experience in the health sector

11. Other Requirements

Some programs have additional application requirements, listed below.

TEFL Demonstrate a strong interest and potential to become a successful TEFL professional as proven by the applicant’s prior experience, Statement of Purpose, and admission interview, if applicable. Obtain an undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or higher on a 5-point scale. 

Note

Applicants should take all required exams on or by the application submission deadline date and ensure that official test scores are reported in a timely manner. Incomplete applications as of one deadline date will be moved to the next deadline date. Any incomplete applications as of the rolling admissions deadline will be deemed ineligible.
